On 25 March 2026, the Vice-Rector for Research at the Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn (KNU), held a meeting with a delegation from Moscow State Linguistic University (MSLU), led by Maria Kiose, Deputy Director of the Centre for Socio-Cognitive Discourse Studies and Professor in the Department of General and Comparative Linguistics at MSLU.
The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation between the two universities in the fields of education, research and academic mobility. The Vice-Rector of KNU warmly welcomed his colleagues from Moscow, gave a brief introduction to the National University and emphasised that KNU is keen to develop its partnership with MSLU in precisely these areas.
Professor Maria Kiosse thanked the hosts for their warm welcome, spoke about the work being carried out at Moscow State Linguistic University as part of the project ‘Diagnosing Processes of Cultural Integration and Disintegration in CIS Countries: An Analysis of Communicative Practices’, and outlined the main findings. In conclusion, she expressed her gratitude to the Rector of KNU, Professor Dogdurbek Chontoev, for his support of the project, as well as to the students and lecturers of the Institute of Journalism and Communication for their active participation in the research.
Zhenishkul Khulkhachieva, Head of the Department of Languages and Cultures of the CIS and Neighbouring Countries and Director of the Ch. Aitmatov Centre for Kyrgyz Language and Culture at Moscow State Linguistic University, emphasised the significance of the project, as it also involves research into the Kyrgyz language.
The meeting was also attended by: Anna Leontyeva, Head of the Sign Language Research Laboratory at Moscow State Linguistic University; Arina Bobkova, Director of the Centre for Kazakh Language and Culture; Anastasia Rzheshevskaya, Senior Research Fellow at the Gender Studies Laboratory; Olga Prokofieva, Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Socio-Cognitive Discourse Studies; Andrey Petrov and Olga Agafonova, Research Fellows at the Centre; Yana Arkhipova, Junior Research Fellow at the Centre; and Saadat Shermatova, Head of the Department of Academic Mobility, Education Export and Online Master’s Programmes at Kazan National University.
