XI International Congress on Cognitive Linguistics took place on November, 7-8 at two venues: “Radisson Slavyyanskaya” hotel and Moscow State Linguistic University. The event was organised by the MSLU, the Russian cognitive linguists association, Institute of linguistics at the Russian Academy of Sciences and Derzhavin Tambov State University.
More than 350 cognitive scientists took part in the Congress opened by the rector of the MSLU Irina Krayeva, director of the Institute of linguistics Andrej Kibrik, director of the Network Research and Education Centre for Cognitive Science of Tambov State University Nikolaj Boldyrev, director of the department for theoretical and applied linguistics of the Institute of linguistics Walerij Demyankov.
On November, 8 a panel discussion traditionally dedicated to the memory of Elena Samoylovna Kubryakova, founder of the school for cognitive and functional language analysis and professor of the Moscow State Linguistic University was organised as part of the Congress.
The final day of the Congress was dedicated to the annual science school for the youth MeMuMo 2022. Young scientists from the MSLU introduced the audience to the experimental Companion-Robot F-2 and to the methods of creating parts of communicative behaviour for it with the help of BML (Behaviour Markup Language); explained how to conduct experiments with eye tracker and analyse the data received; told about the methods of psycholinguistics that help to adopt texts for the purposes of advertising; and together with students they tried to analyse hand gesturing.
