On 25-26 June 2025, the Eighth Conference ‘Cognitive Science in Moscow: New studies’ was held in Moscow, traditionally organised by the Russian Journal of Cognitive Science with the support of the Faculty of Life Sciences of the Moscow Institute of Psychoanalysis, the Faculty of Psychology of the Institute of Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Social Sciences and the Research Institute of Neuropsychology of Writing and Speech.

SCoDis researchers M.I. Kiose, O.N. Prokofieva, O.V. Agafonova and E.E. Smirnova took part in the event with the poster ‘Functions of recurrent gestures in evaluative positioning in Russian language dialogue’. The research was carried out within the framework of the Centre’s project under RNF grant 24-18-00587 ‘The role of recurrent gestures in different languages: sociocognitive foundations of polymodal positioning’.

The researchers presented the preliminary results of the project and told all those interested about the peculiarities of working with speech and gestures in expository dialogue on the material collected within the framework of the project.
