Traditional round table “Language and knowledge: En route to acquiring knowledge about language, human and world” dedicated to the memory of Elena Kubryakova was held at MSLU on the 8-10th of November 2023. The event was organized by the Centre SCoDis in partnership with the Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Derzhavin Tambov State University.
Plenary sessions and panel discussions were staged on the following topics:
- Cognitive paradigm of the scientific knowledge and peculiarities of cognitive approach to linguistic phenomena;
- Problems of conceptualization and categorization of the world;
- Mental lexicon as a component of linguistic characterization of a person;
- Cognitive linguistics and problems of compositional semantics;
- Language of space and space of language;
- Forms of objectification of knowledge in language and discourse;
- Processes of transposition in categorization of the world;
- Discourse in terms of interactionism and intentionality.
Science school “MEMUMO: Methods of Multimodal Communication” took place on the 10th of November. Olga Iriskhanova, vice-rector for research at MSLU gave an introductory talk on modern methods of multimodal analysis of discourse. Workshops for the participants were hosted by the SCoDis team: Anna Leontieva, Olga Agafonova, Olga Prokofyeva, Maria Kiose and Anna Izmalkova.
