SCoDis researchers have obtained new results after analysing gaze, speech and gesture in the perception and generation of descriptive texts by learners of Russian as a foreign language. The researchers described them in a report at the international conference ‘Corpus Linguistics-2025’, which took place in St. Petersburg on 24-27 June 2025 and was organised by St. Petersburg State University. In the course of the work, researchers M.I. Kiose and A.A. Rzeshevskaya conducted an experiment and recorded a corpus of polymodal behaviour using iTracking. The collected material was used to establish differences in the reading strategies of descriptive texts of learners with different levels of knowledge of Russian as a foreign language, as well as differences in the use of speech and gestures in the subsequent transfer of the read content to the listener.

The topic of the work and the results obtained provoked a lively discussion among the participants of the section ‘Corpus of Learning Texts’.
