On the 27th of October MSLU hosted the educational event ScienceSlam as part of the Academic League of science slams. Six young scientists performed on stage of the MSLU assembly hall telling the audience about their research in a popular-scientific manner. Students, postgraduates and professors of the university took part in the slam.

Participants told the audience about how and why to learn the language of angels, whether the deaf can be loud, how an ideal virtual academic environment looks like and how borrowings in Turkish can point at affiliation with the elite.

Psychologist and BI-analyst Dmitry Kitchman took part in the event as a special guest. His performance was dedicated to the explanation of how not to leave the room in a correct manner, of what the syndrome of critical social isolation is and of how study of hikikomori is equal to study of king crabs.

Special guests of the event also included vice-rector for science Olga Iriskhanova, head of the department for applied and experimental linguistics and deputy head of the Council of young scientists Andrey Dzhunkovsky and also the winner ScienceSlamMSLU 2022, third-year postgraduate student of the department for international relations and Russian foreign policy Roman Kitaev.

The audience selected the winner with the help of applause. Professor at the department of theology Alexander Yartsev performed with his presentation on the following topic: “Language of angels, cryptography and the real game of thrones”. Now he can claim the participation in the project on the regional level and then, in case of victory, in the all-Russian academic ScienceSlam held as part of the Congress of young scientists in Sochi.
